My first street bike was a GT500 - I think it was 1976 or 1978. Whichever it was, it was the last year they were available here in Canada.
It was a great little bike - fast, easy to handle - almost as much fun as my dead? Savage. I got a speeding ticket for 160km (100mph) in an 80km zone one night - the cop said he was sure I was close to 200 before he caught up to me. I wasn't sure if I should believe him - but my speedo was buzzing too much to be able to read it. Shortly after that I bounced it off a transport truck on the freeway...it came out in better shape than either I (badly banged up right leg) or the transport truck (they had to pull out the front fender before he could drive away). The Titan came out of it with a few scrapes, a broken signal light and bent brake lever. I had tried to jump in front of him to make my turnoff (last one for 40 miles) but got a little bit too close and got sucked in to the draft.
I no longer have the need for speed...
